La Jetee
La Jetee a french film directed by Chris Marker, released in 1962. This film is the blueprint for stop motion. It uses only still images to tell its story. The images often being dark and all of them in black and white. la jetee breaks many boundaries for the time in film telling this story in all stills and using stills to create movement. There are moments that linger so you as a viewer can really absorb whats being put on the screen.
I think for being an older film the technology and ideas of what a film could be really shine through. While the film itself may no longer be technologically advanced it paved the way for some of the most classic films of all time and showed the hopes and dreams of what they thought the movies could turn into.
