Is All Press Really Good Press?

 With all of the bad press going around I have to begin to question if all press is really good press, especially in the age of social media? Starting with the scandal surrounding the newest psychological horror film "Don't Worry Darling". What started off as an amazing film starring Florence Pugh and Harry Styles set in an idealistic 1950s style society quickly turned into a public relations nightmare that almost ended in boycotting of the film by Harry and Florence stans alike. As both a stan of Harry and Florence when this movie was announced I was thrilled. I don't think I have ever been so excited about a non-Marvel movie. It was not only a period piece but it was directed by Olivia Wilde the genius director behind BookSmart, and then Harry and Flo were the stars. I would have fought to the death for opening night tickets. 

But slowly and surely the drama began. Harry and Olivia started dating Olivia called out Florence for being uncomfortable on set with an actor who is known to have sexually harassed women. Saying that "this should be a wakeup call for miss Flo".  Olivia while presenting the film is served custody papers by her ex Jason Sudekis.

So this begs the question... is all press really good press? I think this movie could have been the movie of the year, with star power like Harry Styles, Florence Pugh, Olivia Wilde, Chris Pine, and so many others this movie was bound to break records when it hit theaters. With a budget of 35 million and only making 19.2 million in its opening weekend. I think so many people were hesitant to see this movie because of all that happened on set. So maybe in the days of cancel culture and Tik Tok not all press is good press.
